"The difference between friends and pets is that friends we allow into our company, pets we allow into our solitude. ~Robert Brault"

A self proclaimed "cat-person," I am blessed to have met these two dogs.  At 35 lbs my fiesty little cat-in-a-dog's-body stole my heart at an animal shelter.  A year later we relocated to another state and I began thinking about getting her a playmate.  I visited a local shelter and was quite specific in my request:  "I want a small, non-stinky, non-jumpy/licky/yappy/hyper dog that isn't a grooming nightmare."  As I went from kennel to kennel I kept shaking my head, "No."  The shelter employee took me out the back door and my eyes locked with the face hidden under a park bench.  I said, "I want to see that one."

"But, he is the largest dog we have in the entire shelter," said the bewildered lady.

He was in horrible shape but he took my breath away.  He was far from being small and little did I know what a shedding machine he would be........but I knew he had to come home with me.

Fast forward a couple of years.....my gentle giant was in trouble.  He was hardly 5 years old and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.  He had gained 15 pounds in only a couple of months and injurred his shoulder from the additional weight.  I was heart broken.  I phoned my old veterinarian in Texas and discussed holistic options.  He asked me to read the ingredients in the food I was feeding.  Just a few ingredients in - he stopped me.    He then gave me a list of parameters for a 'quality' food and suggested that I shop my small town to find what was available.   ANSWER:  nothing.

I began an online search for what he suggested and found Life's Abundance.  After checking with the veterinarian, I began feeding both dogs the All Life Stage Dog Food.  Thirty days later, I took my big guy back to the local vet.  His thyroid was normal.

While I am not in any way guaranteeing that this food will heal your pet, I can say that I have seen numerous instances - with my own pets, pets of friends and animals that I have fostered for a local shelter - this food had a positive impact on their lives.

We live with these two beautiful dogs (now 15 and 13 years old) and three cats.  We jokingly say that it is impossible to spend time in our home and not feel the presence of love.  Each pet is quite unique but the love that they show for each other and the human companions is quite humbling.
